Programs & Trainings

Step-Up Step-In: This program is set up to screen, educate, and teach those who are willing to step into this most important and difficult role of substitute parenting when the parents are no longer here or they are unable to care for their loved ones due to illness or aging.

Designs 4 Autism—4 Independent Living: Living with families for short periods of time to help create change in the home through color, order, and items of interest. This environmental change gently encourages children to step out into the new and transition upward towards independence.

Home Sweet Home: Building safe, appropriate, and affordable housing facilities for adults with autism where they can continue to develop and grow and reach their full potential.

Creative Employment Opportunities: Creating individualized jobs to complement the interests and abilities of each autistic adult helping them to succeed, by building self-esteem, and enjoying what they do.

Services With a Smile: After age 22, adults with autism age out of services. Existing services need to be extended and new ones implemented for autistic adults going through transitioning periods after high school, college, the workplace, and independence.  It is crucial to pay special attention to hire only those who really want to be in this field and who want to do this type of work.

Cause/Issue that Autism Independence Project raises awareness of:

  • Helping adults with autism become independent and live the best life possible.
  • Focusing on the immediate urgency to remedy the tremendous shortage of services, housing,
    and jobs.
  • Assisting autistic adults after their parents are gone or unable to care for them due to illness or aging.

When we love, accept, empower, and support with positive reinforcement our special needs children and adults will succeed.
